Quick Update

So far this weekend, I was able to trace out the Size 12 of Simplicity 3678 and cut out the fabric.  This fabric was harder to mark though.  A fabric pen wouldn’t work on it.  Tailor’s chalk was useless.  And tracing paper was barely workable, but I used it.  Marking the pleats was a total PITA and they’re still not really marked well.

Here’s my fabric all ready to go!

 Take 2 ready to go

I hope to sew as much as I can tonight.  Can I finish it tonight?  I don’t know.  Probably not, but who knows.

Wish me luck, I am sewing without a co-pilot tonight.  😉

Happy sewing!

  1. Did you try marking with tailors tacks instead or with any of the options you tried?

Incase you don’t know how to do them there are details here: http://sewing.about.com/library/sewnews/library/aamarking0404a.htm (please don’t take my linking that as being patronising in anyway, i am always discovering things i didn’t know about and assume that other sewers are the same)

  2. Thanks for your comment. I Think that Simplicity pattern is great for our fabric (lol). Thanks for the heads up.
I run in to marking problems all of the time. Don’t tell anyone, but I bought 2 packs of the mini Sharpie permanent markers. One pack is dark colors and the other in pastel colors. I use these for the hard to mark fabric that I keep running into. Most of the time I can mark in an inconspicuous place, other times – not so much and it ends up showing through. I just act like it’s not there (lol). I know many others would frown on this, but a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do sometimes.

  3. Now why didn’t think of using Sharpies! 😉

  4. No patronization taken! 😉 That’s a great idea, tailor tacks. Thanks!
