Still here, but…

I had a minor catastrophe with Thor’s shirt and my serger.  It stopped me in my tracks for a while, but I think it’s pretty minor and will not be noticed in the end.

However, momma needs a new dress for Friday (I’ll tell you why afterwards — don’t want to spoil the surprise) so I am going to revisit Simplicity 3678 again.  But this time with a killer border print and using view B’s (top right) sleeves.  I will again take out the back gathers and I am going to try to take out some of the maternity look inducing front gathers.  As Karen and Carolyn know, I have been racking my brains and my pattern stash for a new knit dress pattern.  However, I kept coming back to the sleeves on this pattern and because I have made it 2.5 times before, I hope it will be a quick and fast project.  *fingers crossed*

Keep me in your thoughts tonight and tomorrow night.  Happy sewing everyone!

  1. Hi Sweetie,

It was a hard decision because they are both great, but I think the first one (reddish?) color would look great with your coloring.

    Love, Mom

  2. Both are amazing!! I love the pattern you’ve chosen. Those sleeves will be perfect! The red might be a little trickier to lay out, especially on the sleeve, since the non-border motif is so large. Still, either way, it will be gorgeous!

  3. I think the red is pretty and blue is so out there too much on the clothing racks. Red is a warm color, good for spring, however, should you look good in blue, and the weather heats up, I suppose you would go for a cool color, but lime is a nice change or any of the greens and yellows. In the end it is all aboout choice and what looks good on you.

  4. I like the red design for spring, however, when it heats up, you may prefer the cool colors for summer. Lime green is a nice change from seeing all the blue colors on the clothes rack, or any of the green shades, or yellows, however, it is all about choices and what looks good on you.

  5. I like the blue one best! And are you going on a date! Like seriously…is that it!

*jumping up and down with my fingers crossed!*

  6. I’m with Carolyn in hoping it’s a date! 🙂 I’d probably go with the red (red for romance and passion, you know) if it’s a date….otherwise, I’d stick with the turquoise one. 🙂

  7. The red is totally gorgeous!

  8. I’d vote for the blue & brown one- I really like the colors!

  9. I like the blue/brown, those colors look so soothing and relaxing. Think cool summer breezes, zen-like. The pink/black combo is more WOW! Look at me, I’m a hot mama. So you take it from there and see where you want to go with this.

  10. Both are beautiful! If you change the gathers to two pleats towards the side, one each off center front then it takes that maternity poof away.
    Blessings,
    Patti

  11. Oooh! Great idea. Thanks! I am definitely going to try that.

  12. I think the blue one would suit you the best. And do tell about Friday!!!

  13. Those are both gorgeous!!!! I think maybe the blue one for those sleeves? And save the red for a bold summer dress? I don’t know. I’d have a hard time cutting into either of those beauties (which is partly why my stash is so large, though i am really working on Too Good To Use).

  14. I like them both and hey why not make the dress in each fabric. I made the first fabric in a blouse and love it.
